Came downtown today to catch up on some work. We romped into town for breakfast. An awesome day in the studio! Broke through several thorny design and development issues. Before we knew it it almost midnight. Time for a second breakfast. Ran and skipped to the Marathon Grill on 16th street — they close at midnight. It was close but the staff was kind and cooked for us. Baked eggs for the first breakfast, blueberry pancakes for the second. Yum. We went back to the studio and dug in. Didn’t get home until 5 am but we were jammin’.

Some birthday gifts aren’t what they seem.

It was a strange day. Pretty productive and certainly fun. One of the best things was finding out that the cards I designed and uploaded to modern postcard will be here on friday. This is the front of the card. I had to design something quick and something without representational art. This will do. It was a real relief to know that the cards would show up with time to mail them.

I’m really thrilled to be in this show with many exceptional artists. I look forward to meeting with a group selected by Pam Taggart. She’s also doing a workshop. Check it out at the chester springs site and at the smARTS, sherman mills arts site. I will be showing new work. That excites me too.

Join me at the reception if you can make it. It will be a party!

This is a drawing from my flickr buddy Len. He has some amazing work. This is not my favorite of his 50 children series so far, but it is the namesake for my birthday month. She is no where near as happy as I am. Spring and a full month of birthday activities is very exciting. She looks a bit how I felt in April. Trying to remember who I am and what drives the work I make — both the design and the art. I remember now and have new posts at my artlog. It’s been a great first day.

Often you need to just stop everything you are doing and have lunch with friends. One of my favorite places to do that is at Caribou Cafe on Walnut Street. When I go there I can pretend I am in Paris. My fall back choice steak frite but I had a terrific trout and bok choy special. Janet wore her french sailor shirt and we had great conversation.
