Haven’t you always wanted to walk on water?

Haven’t you always wanted to walk on water?
I have admired Maya Lin’s work for two decades. The thoughtfulness, the scale, and the amazing balance of the discipline of architecture and the emotional vocabulary are controlled yet create both visceral reactions that then trigger intellectual responses.
Her investigation of water/waves and their distinct states have created internal conversations that have manifest themselves in my hieroglyphics that have come after Egyptian Waters.
I dream of walking on the waters, floating in the space between the waves.
Now I will make the equivalent of a pilgrimage to the Wave Field at Storm King. I will walk on the waves, I will lie and stand between the waves unable to see beyond the lead wave or the following one. I will photograph my point of view. I will capture video of the changing light. I will stand on the waters suspended in time.

i am doing a series of monotypes inspired in part by maya lin’s wavefield. i admire her work and have often seen the pattern of waves in mountain ranges as i’ve visited. using her latest land installation as an inspiration, i am doing a series that combine the feel of mountains and water. i have included some photos in my facebook album. i look forward to visiting storm king this fall.
did you take photos? any on facebook?
Hello Linda, welcome! Thanks for responding to my post. No, I don’t have any images yet. However Margaret and I are heading up for our annual mountain retreat and I’ll bring some back then. I don’t put any intellectual property up on Facebook. Their Terms of Service are Draconian. ( I link to assets but anything I don’t want them to claim some ownership goes where there is Creative Commons licensing. They claim ownership to linked content too but that won’t hold water.)
Looking forward to what inspiration you take from her Wave field. She actually has done a number of other wave installations at smaller scale before taking on this project. Underneath the beauty lies some impressive engineering.
hello again. have you seen my series on my website?
this link takes you right there:
