I’m not sure why it’s been so long since I’ve walked there, but today I did and it was strangely overcast and humid when I started out. But it wasn’t long before the clouds parted and blue skies were revealed.

The Race Street Pier looks it’s best in late spring. The heat of summer hasn’t taken it’s toll on all the plants. Today the sailing club was out in numbers as the tacked back and forth on the incoming tide. Barges passed by slowly, the tugboats easing them along.

It’s a wonderful place to sit and think.

It’s wonderful to have such beautiful sites right outside one’s door.

Enjoying a latte early on a Sunday morning.

A quiet walk down empty streets. The sun streaming through the leafless trees. Only my neighbors walking their dogs and enjoying a tourist free zone — for at least a little while. Then retreating to our homes for a quiet time as the tourists and weekenders descend.

Another neighborhood shot. This is the newly opened Race Street Pier. It was designed by Field Operations who worked on New York’s High Line. The new park is awesome. We sat by the edge for what seemed like ages; watching the boats sail by. New morning coffee spot.

Wandered by into this little shop. Some very nice arrangements. I hear they are new in old city. Looking forward to getting some flowers for the table there. I just felt very welcomed by the facade. I’ll be back.

Yesterday we met Chris. He’s the maintenance guy. He’s young energetic and he helped us with the Comcast survey guy. The Comcast guy was Michael. He’s a private contractor to Comcast of course. (Let’s not go into that story right now.) There is Mike the dogwalker who we met when he walked the dog from across the street; it’s his girlfriends business. There is Claude who does some work for the landlord; didn’t meet him just talked on the phone. Finally talked to Lynne who is going to clean the place before we move in.

It has begun.

Meeting new folks in a new neighborhood.

Took this on a walk last week. The weather just seems to keep calling out for the evergreen. Love the tile house number!

The sky is a weird yellow and the snow has already covered the cards and sidewalks. It’s 9pm. We have less than an inch. I’m planning on adding a number of widgets here on the blog tonight.
